| About Us Welcome to our website! We are pleased to have you visit. We are a husband and wife, who purchased our first timeshare in the early years of our marriage in 1984. We were visiting the Northern Outer Banks of North Carolina and participated in a timeshare presentation at Barrier Island Station in Duck. Before we left there, we had become the new owners of a week at Barrier Island Station, purchasing a two bedroom March week. We were excited, yet nervous; questioning ourselves about what we had done. Two years later, we purchased our second timeshare through the developer during a sales presentation during a mini-vacation we took to Edisto Island in South Carolina. With these two initial timeshare purchases, we have enjoyed many fabulous vacations throughout the years. Some years, we utilized our purchased weeks, but mostly exchanged for other places in the United States through Resort Condominiums International. Since 2003, we quit claimed the deed for the South Carolina timeshare back to the resort due to poor management, ever increasing maintenance fees, loss of amenities and a special assessment which spanned three years. We felt we got more than our money's worth out of this timeshare from all the wonderful vacations we took over those 17 years. But we saw the writing on the wall when we discovered the timeshare resale market. We found that we could purchase weeks at a low cost that were managed well, with lower maintenance fees and no on-going special assessments, and have since added several timeshares to our holdings. We have become more experienced in what to look for in a timeshare. Buying resale, we have saved thousands of dollars compared to the prices the resorts and developers charge for these same weeks. When buying a timeshare, we look for a resort in an area we like to go to, but combine that with a week that will be a strong trader when we do decide to exchange for a resort somewhere other than where we own. We also look at the initial cost, resort transfer fees and closing costs. Equally important is the history of the management company, if the resort has reasonable and stable maintenance fees and whether or not special assessments are being charged or have been in the past. By following this strategy in making our purchases, we are able to stay in wonderful resorts in prime locations during prime seasons for much less than hotel lodging would cost. Plus, we get the use of a large comfortable condo with a full kitchen, and unit and resort amenities to enjoy that we would not have if staying in a hotel room. Our lodging costs are always much less than what a hotel in the area where we're vacationing would cost us for a week, not to mention the state and local lodging taxes that are added on. Currently, we have several timeshares that we are listing for sale in order to downsize our holdings. We also have these condos listed for rent, as well as others. Please feel free to look through our site at our listings. If we can provide any additional information on timesharing in general, our timeshares for resale and rent, or any of the areas where these properties are located, please email us. We will be happy to assist you and provide you with additional information. |
